I'm interested to hear what your opinions are on the "ultimate" car care combo for a black or other dark car.

I'll list what I currently use and my opinions and you do likewise.

Step 1. Paint Cleaner - Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner #1 applied using Porter Cable 7424 random orbit buffer and Meguiars foam pad.

My opinion - there has to be better than this. Paint blemishes still visible after multiple applications. Water spots not removed, etc. Disappointing for dark cars IMHO. Tough to buff off residue. Required moist microfiber towels to fully remove.

Step 2. Polish - One Grand Omega Glaze applied using Porter Cable 7424 random orbit buffer and Meguiars foam pad.

My Opinion - Tough to rate properly since the cleaner mentioned previously didn't do its job as expected. All in all I'd rate it as acceptable. Paint was wet looking and felt great after application. I'm not sure this product is meant for use with a buffer...but then again, does it really matter?? Is it necessary to only use "hand" glaze products by hand? May sound like a stupid question but I doubt I'm the only one thinking it.

Step 3 Wax. Omega One Blitz wax applied by hand.

My opinion - Applies nicely and dries well within a reasonable period of time. Buffs off easily IF completely dried and leaves a very nice sheen to the car.

I have noticed that it doesn't protect for more than 3 months, so be prepared to do this all again within that time frame.

As always, YMMV, which is why I'm asking.

What do you use and how happy are you with the outcome?

I'd like to keep the post limited to cleaners/polishes you apply using a buffer. I don't have time to hand polish.

I'm getting low on materials and am thinking it may be time for a change.

Thanks all.

I have had a lot of luck with Meguiars Deep Crystal Cleaner, followed up with Zymol Auto Polish.

I have a dark green Toyota Landcruiser with a lot of paint to work with. Easy on, fairly easy off with amazing results.

The durability isn't as good as I'd like, but it really is an amazing shine, and smoothness.

I used Mother's clay, Meguiar's #7, #9, and Gold Class liquid wax on this lincoln.

It may be a white car, but check out the shine on it. Remember that it would be MUCH better if it was a dark color.

Also, if you see stains under there, try using Clear Coat Body Scrub or Scratch X.

And NEVER foget to clay. It works wonders.

I have a 2000 Tauras Chestnut color, a very dark color. Although, I don't need to clay it yet, I use Mothers Phase 1 paint cleaner, follow-up with 3M Swirl free remover (for dark color cars) and finally Grand one Blitz. The Mothers removes all water spots and dirt, the 3M blends in and fills the scratches and the blitz protects the finish. These products applied by hand have a very serious deep luster shine to them. Had a lot of complements on my cars appearance. Final look a clear Mirror finish. In the spring I plan on using claying it and using my Portor cable on it.
